Here's my part of the collaboration with *plt25 that I was talking about in my latest journal.

This is Zenobia, the queen of the Palmyrian empire in modern Syria in the third century. She kicked some major butt, by all means read more about her, she's a very interesting and colourful character!

I had so much fun colouring her and it was both challenging and different to colour somebody else's work. It makes me even more of a perfectionist, because I don't want to screw up the pretty original! This did take me much longer than I intended, both because I'm a slow worker and also because the art academy decided to eliminate 95% of my free time

thats brilliant!! really good depth and shading in it. i love the posture and the jewellery and the expression!! for some reason the face kinda reminds me of Eva Longoria!!..haha random- but the features are very similiar! excellent collaboration!!! Well done!

However, the skin tone on this one is off too

Look up Noura Rahal (popular Syrian singer), to see.

A lot of people are mistaken and think that Arabs are very dark, but we're all Caucasian.

Ah, and thanks again for the tip. I must admit I didn't in this case look up contemporary Syrian people, I only looked at old illustrations and descriptions. Guess they weren't accurate! I'll take the easy, contemporary route next time

I really want to do this correctly, so thanks for the tips. I love drawing people from other cultures, esp.from around Mesopotamia and such.

I didn't draw the contours, I only coloured the picture. So comments about her costume should probably be directed towards the creator who inked it

But thanks nonetheless! I guess she has some resemblance to Cleopatra
